Objectives

Upon completion of this symposium, the participant will be able to:

• Recognize the common foot injuries in athletics

• Understand intervention strategies to help prevent ankle sprains.

• Describe the management of a high ankle sprain.

• Learn what to evaluate and look for after a patellar dislocation.

• Describe the rehabilitation protocol following a patellar dislocation.

• Understand the treatment protocol following a shoulder dislocation.

• Describe the common clavicle injuries in sports.

• Demonstrate various massage techniques for muscle recovery.

• Recognize the signs of depression in athletes following an injury.

• Learn what the common anti-inflammatory medications are in Sports Medicine

Target Audience

Physicians (family practice, pediatricians, and surgeons) involved in the care of athletic teams, physical therapists, athletic trainers, biomechanists, exercise physiologists, nurses, physicians assistants and others interested in sports medicine.

A refund (less a $25 processing fee) will be made if notice of withdrawal is received by
May 2, 2008. After May 2, 2008 no refunds will be provided. We reserve the right to cancel or substitute topics and/or speakers.
