Services & Solutions
Each year, the University of Kentucky Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine offer more than 300 continuing education activities designed to improve the skills of health care professionals and, in turn, the quality of care patients receive. While many of these are planned, developed and executed by our staff, many are produced in collaboration with educational partners around the country.
Dedicated Staff and Faculty
What makes us so successful? In short, our people. Our staff is dedicated to providing CE that meets not only the standards set forth by the national accrediting bodies, but the standards of discerning healthcare professionals. We're also fortunate to have an outstanding faculty in the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Their involvement in our programming enables us to consistently produce the quality CE activities that many have come to expect when the "University of Kentucky" name appears.
Joint Sponsorship
Through the years we have developed considerable experience in managing jointly sponsored projects. And judging by the consistency with which our educational partners request our services, we must be doing a good job. Our knowledge of and adaptation to changes in CE guidelines allows us to effectively guide jointly sponsored projects from conception to implementation, alleviating concerns along the way such as conflict of interest resolution.
Advances in Technology
Advances in technology and changes in today's business climate have made distance learning the preferred method of delivery for continuing education activities for many health care professionals. As is customary for the University of Kentucky, the Pharmacy and Medicine Continuing Education Office has invested heavily to meet this increasing demand.
Learning Online
In May 2003, we launched a proprietary eLearning System, designed to serve as a source of quality CE for those who prefer Internet-based learning. This concept evolved in June 2006 with the launch of
CECentral.com, a full-service CE solution for healthcare professionals. The website now features medical news provided by Reuters Health and a fully-indexed calendar of events. Registering an account is FREE and takes just a couple minutes.
Streaming Audio/Video
Another plateau was reached in 2004 when we began offering streaming media (video and audio) activities. There are two ways in which this type of activity can be produced: in a natural or isolated environment. In either case, our staff has the expertise to convert a live presentation to an Internet-based WebCast in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
Our turnaround time is typically less than one week and because the project is being handled internally, and by the accrediting body, the cost is significantly less than outsourcing. We can also use captured video at national meetings to produce high-quality CD-ROMs, again at a significant cost savings to our clients.
